Association of Banks in Lebanon held a business lunch meeting with H.E. Mrs. Maura Connelly, US Ambassador in Lebanon where banking relations between Lebanon and the USA were discussed. Dr. Torbey reassured during the lunch that Lebanese banks are fully committed to combating money laundering and warned that rumors circulated by some local media against Lebanese banks will directly affect the reputation of the Lebanese banking sector. H.E. Mrs. Maura Connelly assured that action taken by the U.S treasury was not targeted against the Lebanese banking sector.
